Özet: Complex systems are characterized by many interconnected components that evolve in time. Even though we collect data of complex systems at rapidly increasing rates, data availability does not lead to a better understanding of such complex systems if the rules governing the evolution of the system’s behavior remain unknown. Without insight into these rules, our predictive power, and thus our ability to control disruptive dynamics, remains limited. In our research group, we study ‘how to model complex systems from data’ problems in various applications such as neuroscience, gene expressions, and climate dynamics. This talk will take us on a ‘complex systems reconstruction and prediction from data’ journey.
Konuşmacı Hakkında: Deniz Eroğlu completed his doctoral studies in theoretical physics at Humboldt University Berlin. Following postdoctoral fellowships at the Mathematics Department of Imperial College and Northwestern University, he joined Kadir Has University in February 2019. Deniz Eroğlu’s broad and multidisciplinary research interest encompasses complex systems, network theory, and data science. He is an awardee of the 2021 Young Scientist Award Program for physics by the Science Academy for his studies on the synchronization of interacting dynamical units on complex networks. Currently, he is the principal investigator of three major grants from TUBITAK. He conducts his research in the “Network-Oriented Dynamics and Data Science” interdisciplinary research group, which is led by himself.
